With Annick Nevejan, Suzy Rebisz & Myeongil Kim in co-operation with Spectrum, Wageningen University
“All flourishing is mutual.” — Robin Wall Kimmerer
Abundance, in every season
In her essay on the serviceberry, Potawatomi botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer asks how honouring the abundance of the living world might help us reimagine an economy built on scarcity — how we might sing gratitude for plentifulness in every season. When we find the courage to receive the gifts the Earth offers, she says, the outcome is not only material. It is spiritual.
Throughout 2026, Spiritual Ecology Netherlands offers a practice day for each season — an invitation to align ourselves with the rhythms of our bodies, the Earth, the sun and the moon.
Autumn is the season of release. As leaves fall, trees draws their energy back into their trunks. What might you let go of to return to your base?
Join us for a day of slowing down together. Through deep listening, we reconnect with what is essential for all life to thrive.
What we’ll explore
“Many of us experienced moments where everything shifts. Your mental chatter falls quiet. You feel deeply present, connected not just to the natural beauty around you (like a sunset or landscape) but also to something larger than yourself. Time seems to pause, and you experience a profound sense of peace and purpose. In these rare moments, we catch a glimpse of what it means to truly flourish.” From ‘Born to Flourish’ by Richard Davidson and Cortland Dahl
New science and ancient wisdom shows us these states need not be fleeting. Even amid busy modern lives, we carry an innate capacity for well-being — and flourishing is a skill, not a matter of luck. When we are flourishing, we bring the best of ourselves to whatever life throws our way. Like learning an instrument or a language, it can be practised and developed. Research shows that as little as five minutes of daily practice can begin to rewire the brain toward greater resilience, focus and well-being.
Together, we’ll explore the four essential components of flourishing:
Simple, accessible practices will be offered throughout the day — ones you can carry into daily life long after autumn ends.
We propose to have a potluck lunch together, as we gather to celebrate and honour the season’s harvest. Once you registered you receive more information on this
